About Mike
Family and Community
My wife, Denise and I, have been married since 1998. We have three beautiful children and a wonderful life with them. Through the kids, we’re busy with many activities like scouts, soccer, and school activities.
Most of our community work is separate (Denise spends a great deal of time at school during the day while I’m working and I volunteer in the evenings) but together we serve as the co-chairs of the Billerica Spelling Bee that we founded in 2009. We’ve had more than 600 children involved in the three years’ of written and on-stage competition.
Through our work on the Billerica Spelling Bee, I’ve become involved in the Billerica Partners for Education, an educational non-profit that funds innovative classroom projects proposed by Billerica teachers. I currently serve as the Vice President of the organization.

My Career
![]()
I work for a software company in marketing. I’ve always had a passion for technology and that led me to working in this industry. While some people resist change, I crave it. And that’s a good thing since change is the only constant in the world of technology.
I spent the first six years of my career in direct sales, spent the next two delivering events in an evangelist-type role, and then have spent the last eight in marketing roles. Having both sales and marketing in my background helps me bring a balanced approach to the projects I work on since the two disciplines work so closely together.
Throughout my career, I’ve delivered thousands of hours of presentations to groups as small as a few people and as large as 1,200 people (a major product launch). While public speaking is some people’s greatest fear, it’s when I feel I’m at my best and most energized.
Local Government
I’ve enjoyed government ever since sitting in Mr. Twomey’s seventh grade social studies class learning about American and world history. I volunteered on a campaign as a kid in Brockton where I grew up. I had an

internship at the Executive Office of Public Safety while in college which was great since I worked for the Legislative Director. I did a lot of running back and forth to the State House and learned a bit about lawmaking along the way.
I also had an internship with the Massachusetts National Guard in the Assistant Adjutant General’s office. In this role, I assisted a Colonel with some of his speaking engagements and projects in this office. During this time, I also served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard as a Military Policeman in the 772d Military Police Company. I served six years and received an honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal.
After getting my career and family established, I decided to finally become involved in local government, originally motivated by a particular issue at my daughters’ school.
- In May 2008 I became a Town Meeting Representative representing Precinct 4 here in Billerica.
- I was appointed to the Finance Committee in June of 2008. At present, I’m the Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee.
- I challenged two incumbents for a seat on the Planning Board in 2009 and lost by 8 votes. That was a great learning experience for me!
- Now, in early 2012, I’m running for Town Moderator, the presiding officer that runs the semi-annual Town Meeting sessions.
Health and Fitness

I took charge of my health in June 2009, as I’ve documented on this site. I’ve made some big lifestyle changes. I have more work to do but I enjoy working on my health.
Video Games
If I could switch jobs tomorrow, I’d work in video games. There is so much opportunity with in-home entertainment through the console and I think we’ve just started to see the evolution begin with Kinect for Xbox 360. I love my Xbox 360 (actually, I have 3) and play a few times a week. My GamerTag is MicMoor.
