Knowing what I now know, I’d start my new healthy lifestyle differently, using some of the ideas and equipment I’ve discovered along the way….
I’m inspired to write this post because of all of the folks I’ve seen this week in Seattle that haven’t seen me since September when I was about 250 (on the way down from 270 but just getting started).
Many have asked me what’s my 1% milk (inside joke related to the team meeting). It’s not one thing, but a few tricks I’ve picked up along the way…
Currently, I’m at 199 and I’ve used many of the resources I pointed out in my original story but if I started my journey today, I’d do some things differently:
- Omron scale – I’d use this from the get-go because I love tracking my progress… not just weight-loss but the change in body composition so you can measure the impact on fat and muscle… love the info from this scale.
- GoWear Fit device – this is the BodyBugg device they use on the Biggest Loser but with the non-24-hour Fitness name sold by Amazon and others. I’ve been using this since last week but already it’s a game-changer for me. It gives you a very precise burn for your calories AND does steps, sleep, and many other things. Very useful and quite essential if you want to create a daily caloric deficit to lose weight – you must know what you burn if you want to plan your calories so you have a 500 calorie daily deficit (which makes you lose one pound per week).
The biggest thing I’ve learned since wearing the GoWear is that I’m burning more calories per day than I thought I was… but now, with the great info from this device, I’m sure I’ll be able to get from 28% body fat down to 19% or so and then I can figure out what my true goal weight is to maintain.
Everything else from my original post still holds true. Good luck with your healthy lifestyle goals and let me know if you need any advice or encouragement!
